Returns are an inevitable part of running a product-based business, and Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs) are a large portion of the return process. Hibou's open-source RMA application has everything you need to start handling RMAs in Odoo today!
Ensure Consistency With RMA Templates
Generally you will have several types of RMAs, each of which will always repeat the same processes (for example, swapping defective merchandise or returning damaged goods to vendors). That's where RMA templates come in to ensure that each RMA of a certain type will be setup the exact same way, each and every time.
We'll make an RMA template named 'Sale Return', which we can then use for RMAs in which the customer is simply returning one or more items from a sale order.
Seamless RMA Creation
Now, when we go to create an RMA using the 'Sale Return' template, we can select the associated Sale Order from a dropdown menu. This allows us to easily select the appropriate line item (in this case, a laptop keyboard) for the return from the original sale order, increasing its quantity to reflect what is being returned.
After adding our RMA line for the keyboard, we can save and confirm the RMA. Once the RMA is confirmed, it will create the pickings that were defined on the RMA template. In our example, this is an inbound picking for our incoming customer return.
The RMA can be edited further to update the Inbound Picking with relevant Carrier and Tracking information, if provided by the customer to indicate that the goods are in transit back to you.
