The Client Services Accounting role will work side-by-side with clients to train, support and assist with their accounting needs. They will also be responsible for managing accounting tasks and working with the team to keep accounting documentation up-to-date and aligned with best practices.

About the Role

We work extensively with Odoo, an open-source ERP, which is - at its core - an accounting platform. Hibou has clients across the country that look to us for assistance in training and supporting their team as they use Odoo, especially as it relates to accounting. This role will work with a variety of clients to consult on and support their accounting needs.

Responsibilities

Learn and understand the workflows and processes within Odoo

Provide accounting training, consulting and and support to clients. Assist with implementations using accounting best practices and answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data

Manage Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, reconciliation, payroll, state/federal remittances and other accounting tasks

Work with team to develop best practices and ensure accurate accounting documentation

Required Skills

Accounting degree and/or 5+ years of relevant accounting experience

Previous experience setting up, verifying configuration, managing period close procedures, and maintaining accounting outcomes.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

An ability to work independently. Capable of managing your time effectively and performing job responsibilities without 24/7 oversight (this is a remote position!).

Desired Skills

Additional HR experience a plus!

Experience with complex eCommerce or manufacturing accounting environments

The First Few Weeks (Outcomes)

  • The first task you will be working on is a self paced training program that includes videos and documentation that will provide you with a fundamental knowledge of the Odoo software. We divide this training program up into different apps and you will be expected to complete the lessons for 1-2 applications each week.

  • You will be responsible for not only reviewing the materials provided for each app, but also for practicing the skills and workflows that you learn in a test database. 

    Once you're comfortable with the materials for each application, you will be given a quiz that will test your knowledge and understanding of the application you've been studying.

  • Once we're all in agreement that you have a good handle on how Odoo functions and specifically the accounting functionality, you will transition to assisting and consulting both internally and with clients on accounting trainings, best practices, implementations, period-close procedures, accounting health-checks, etc.

      1. This assessment is relatively short and shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes to complete. It includes job-specific questions or sample problems, as well as questions related to problem solving and how you work individually/with a team.

      2. Note that, in order to move forward as a candidate for this role, this survey must be completed within 72 hours of your application being submitted.

    3. Hibou reviews the assessment and determines if we think it may be a mutually good fit. If so, we'll reach out to schedule an interview.

    4. If the first interview goes well, we'll call you back for a second interview to meet with some other team members.
