Obtaining a Withholding Payroll Number

Good to Know!

If you already have a Georgia Withholding Payroll Number, skip to the next section.

All employing units that have individuals performing services in Georgia should register for a withholding payroll number immediately following the payment of their first Georgia payroll.

This registration does not require renewal and remains in effect as long as the business has employees whose wages are subject to Georgia income tax withholding.

Online registration is available through Georgia Tax Center (GTC). Once there, click on "Register a New Georgia Business". After you have completed your online submission, you should receive your tax account number within 15 minutes by email.
